As an outgrowth of our manufacturing excellence work,
in 2007 we developed an assessment product to support private equity transactions
and portfolio management reviews.
The Portfolio Assessment provides:
- A process for holding site managers accountable to practices and systems
improvement—the key to long-term performance improvement
- A detailed report on risks and opportunities for operational improvements
- Confirmation or refutation of assumptions about opportunities for operating
efficiencies and the level of effort required to capture those opportunities

- Private equity owners and portfolio managers
Process:
- 2 Phase 5 Group consultants spend one week (initial review)
or 2 days (refresh) on each site
- Consultants use detailed diagnostic to assess risks and performance
improvement opportunities—use same methodology across sites
- Phase 5 Group provides detailed report and briefing to client to include per-site
risks and opportunities and a scorecard that benchmarks sites on hundreds of performance-generating
practices and systems improvement criteria
